چکیده
The catalytic N-formylation and N-methylation of amines using CO2 as the carbon source represents a facile and sustainable approach for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and natural products. Herein, we describe highly effective and inexpensive thiazolium carbene-based catalysts derived from vitamin B1 for the N-formylation and N-methylation of amines, using polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS) as a reducing agent, which operate under ambient conditions.

Cascade bicyclizations of o-alkynyl aldehydes with thiazolium salts: a new access toward poly-functionalized indeno[2,1-b]pyrroles.
A new cascade bicyclization of o-alkynyl aldehydes with thiazolium salts is described, in which 25 examples of densely functionalized indeno[2,1-b]pyrroles are achieved in a functional-group-compatible manner. Thiazole carbenes generated in situ from thiazolium salts play dual roles as reaction partners and as NHC catalysts. The synthetic utility of these bicyclization reactions results in subs...
متن کاملN-heterocyclic carbene copper(I) catalysed N-methylation of amines using CO2.
The N-methylation of amines using CO2 and PhSiH3 as source of CH3 was efficiently performed using a N-heterocyclic carbene copper(i) complex. The methodology was found compatible with aromatic and aliphatic primary and secondary amines. Synthetic and computational studies have been carried out to support the proposed reaction mechanism for this transformation.
متن کاملIonic liquid as an efficient promoting medium for fixation of CO2: clean synthesis of alpha-methylene cyclic carbonates from CO2 and propargyl alcohols catalyzed by metal salts under mild conditions.
Reactions of propargylic alcohols with CO(2) in a [BMIm][PhSO(3)]/CuCl catalytic system to produce the corresponding alpha-methylene cyclic carbonates were conducted with high yields. Mild reaction conditions, enhanced rates, improved yields, and recyclable ionic liquid catalyst systems are the remarkable features exhibited in this process. Furthermore, the use of large amounts of tertiary amin...
متن کاملA Porous Metal–Organic Framework Assembled by [Cu30] Nanocages: Serving as Recyclable Catalysts for CO2 Fixation with Aziridines
Based on a novel ligand 5-(2,6-bis(4-carboxyphenyl)pyridin-4-yl)isophthalic acid (H4BCP) with large skeletons, a unique porous framework {[Cu2(BCP)(H2O)2]·3DMF} n (1) assembled by nano-sized and censer-like [Cu30] cages is successfully obtained and structurally characterized. In 1, the large 1D channel in frameworks and window size in the nanocages can enrich methylene blue and capture CO2, exh...
متن کاملDirect NHC-catalysed redox amidation using CO2 for traceless masking of amine nucleophiles.
The N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-catalysed redox amidation reaction is poorly developed and usually requires catalytic co-additives for electron-rich amine nucleophiles. We report a masking strategy (using CO2) that couples release of the free amine nucleophile to catalytic turnover, and in doing so, enables direct catalytic redox amidation of electron-rich amines.
